Useful AdviceThe active principle in Hepar sulfuris calcareum, also termed Calcium sulfuratum Hahnemanni or calcium sulphur liver. This is a powder which is formed by mixing and burning equal parts of flowers of sulphur and the white interior portion of oyster shells. As a double medicine made of sulphur and calcium, Hepar sulfuris combines
the action of the two medications: that of sulphur on the skin and mucous
membranes and that of calcium on the glands. Direction of Action
Cardinal symptoms are an oversensitivity
to touch and to pain as well as to cold air, which can be more or less
strongly expressed; and a strong tendency to suppurations everywhere. Beyond this, Hepar sulfuris is a constitutional medicine (constitution = the totality of all characteristics of an individual) for animals that are susceptible for infections, e.g. with recurrent catarrhs or anginas. Hepar sulfuris is pharmacologically closely related to sulphur (see Dermisal); which, in contrast to Hepar sulfuris, is indicated by dry to weeping sores. Pharmaceutical enterprise |
